LUSAKA HELPS: Information and action in the time of Covid-19
InHouse Design Studio / Ouzel created a consistent and recognisable brand for LUSAKA HELPS an all-volunteer community action team which was active during the Covid-19 Pandemic in Zambia. The LH team of scientists, doctors, and activists worked with ZNPH and other government agencies to collect, process, analyse data and share information for Zambians. InHouse/Ouzel developed a set of visual communication slides for sharing weekly summaries that were shared widely on social media. We designed clear visual guides for everything from how to: manage social distancing, use public transportation, make and wear masks properly, wash hands and safely care for loved ones. Our visual guides, printed posters and digital designs were held as examples of effective science communications.
ABOUT LUSAKA HELPS: Creating and disseminating timely and accurate information about COVID-19 was Lusaka Helps’ initial driving force and the backbone of our work. Creatives, donors, health experts and content creators have came together to brainstorm, develop and share locally relevant information, aimed at equipping Zambians with the knowledge that they need and the ability to act.
Lusaka Helps had three initiatives to support Lusaka's frontline healthcare workers in various isolation facilities - 'Face Shields', 'Operation Mask Up' and 'Feed our Heroes'. These projects help provide essential Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and meals for health workers who are away from their homes and families.
Lusaka Helps also supported the most vulnerable in the community with LH Community Care Packages. Donations of food, sanitary items and other daily essentials helped to get people through these hard times where jobs were scarce, incomes were stretched to the limit and both quarantine and isolation / social distancing endangered people and families who needed care and assistance.
